Gbenga Ogunbote, the technical adviser for Shooting Stars, has praised his team after their victory over Kano Pillars on the road.

Kano Pillars was defeated 2-1 by the Oluyole Warriors on Monday at Sani Abacha Stadium.

Pillars took the lead thanks to goals from veteran midfielder Rabiu Ali, but Shooting Stars responded with goals from Christian Pyagbara and Taye Murtala.

Ogunbote praised his team for rallying from a weak start to win the match.

“I have to thank the All-Powerful God and acknowledge the players at the same time. We had a bad start since the players were tired,” he told the 3SC reporters.

“Due to a mechanical issue with our car, we arrived here on Sunday night, having left Ibadan on Saturday. Thus, you anticipate becoming tired.

“In the first half, we just tried to control the game, and in the second half, I think the boys were able to show what they ought to have shown in the first half.”

Shooting Stars, with 46 points from 29 games, climbed to sixth place on the table.
