The spiritual significance of Christmas, according to Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, should motivate Christians to spread love and promote community harmony.

In his Christmas message, Governor Adeleke urged all citizens, but notably Christians, to live out the spirit of generosity and mercy that the season represents. He framed the holiday as an opportunity to reflect on the blessing that the birth of Jesus Christ represents for all people.

On Sunday in Osogbo, his spokesman Olawale Rasheed made this appeal in a Christmas message.

The governor sent his best wishes to Christians in Osun State and around the country as they celebrate Christmas in 2023. He also urged the people of the state to recognize the power of togetherness and the opportunities it presents for achieving the necessary progress.

He hoped that people would take this time to reconnect with one another, offer assistance, and love without limits.

“As we celebrate Christmas this year, I offer my deepest wishes to the Christian faithful,” the statement adds. As time has passed, we have realized that the birth of Jesus Christ is the most profound revelation about the power of love and its ability to save.

I hope that families would take the time to reflect on the true meaning of the season and use it to spread kindness and generosity rather than just revelry.

“In times like these, we must take care of one another and make sure that those in need are assisted in every way we can. Because we are all brothers and sisters regardless of race, ethnicity, or religion, we should seek out the power that comes from working together.

“To make sure that our senior citizens can also enjoy a joyful celebration, bonds totaling over N2.9bn were also issued to pensioners a few days ago,” the statement said.

Governor Adeleke wished the people of Osun a joyous holiday and a good year ahead in 2024, assuring them of his unwavering commitment to the state’s progress.

He went on to say that the upcoming year will be focused on continuing and launching initiatives to boost the state’s economy and the lives of its citizens.
