Alia offers comfort to victims’ families after the Wa-Ndoo attacks

Reverend Fr. Hyacinth Alia, governor of Benue State, has sent his sympathies to the families of the victims of the armed herder attack in Wa-ndoo, Mbalom, Gwer-East Local Government Area.

The armed herders responsible for the horrific crime will not rest until they are apprehended and prosecuted, he promises.

Scores of locals were massacred on Thursday when armed herdsmen stormed the Wa-ndoo settlement in Mbalom, Gwer-East Local Government.

The state’s security forces were ordered by the governor to immediately pursue and capture the criminal herders.

We told these thugs to get out of the state immediately, he claims. Additionally, we issued a 14-day ultimatum to everyone engaging in open grazing throughout the state, requiring them to either comply with the law or vacate the premises.

Time has passed since that ultimatum. From what I can tell, the events at Wa-ndoo were an effort to gauge my government’s commitment to the issue to which I have already given top attention.

According to him, the state’s Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law will be strictly enforced, so any offenders who managed to enter the state should be aware that their time has come and gone.
