Authorities in Jigawa prey on 26 individuals wanted for alleged phone theft

Authorities in Jigawa State have announced the arrest of 26 people on charges of drug usage, burglary, theft, and phone snatching.

While speaking on Sunday in Dutse, DSP Lawan Shiisu—the command’s PPRO—made the following statement.

He explained that the arrest followed a string of raids that took place in four different local government districts of the state from December 18th to the 19th.

In Babura town, Babura LGA, command operatives allegedly apprehended a teenager for phone snatching and N10,000 in theft. In Hadejia, two additional suspects were apprehended for the theft of six laptop computers and a motorcycle.

In addition to the 22 individuals apprehended by the police during searches at criminal hideouts in Kiyawa, Burnin Kudu, and Maigatari LGAs between December 17 and December 21, he mentioned that agents had apprehended a suspect in Kazaure for allegedly stealing two air conditioners.

Among other things, the raids yielded one motorcycle, wraps of Cannabis sativa, and several narcotics, according to Shiisu.

Criminal elements are being warned by the command, which is headed by Mr. Ahmadu Abdullahi, the Commissioner of Police, to either repent or leave the state.

“Since then, it has begun conducting simultaneous raids on all the designated trouble areas and criminal sanctuaries throughout the state,” he declared.

His argument was that this would give locals faith in the system, allowing them to go about their lawful lives without fear.

Once investigations are complete, the suspects will face charges, he said.
