The first leg at Diego Maradona Stadium ended in an exciting 1-1 draw, putting the tie in a precarious position.
You may remember that Osimhen showed his mettle on the European stage by quickly responding to Robert Lewandowski’s opener for Barcelona with a clinical finish.
But Cancelo, seeing the effect Osimhen had, praised his pinpoint accuracy and proclaimed him one of the world’s top strikers.
Also, Cancelo emphasized the impressive lineup of Napoli by showcasing the skills of Piotr Zieliński, Stanislav Lobotka, and Matteo Politano.
According to Il Napolista’s reporting from the Italian sports newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, Cancelo spoke highly of Osimhen’s performance under Francesco Calzona, the new coach of Napoli.
Politano, too? Both players are world-class, but Cancelo gushed over Osimhen, calling him “one of the greatest strikers in the world” after he scored with half the ball in the first leg.
“But that’s not all: Zielinski, who isn’t eligible to play due to an injury, is someone I like, and Lobotka is an excellent player; I played against him when we were in Portugal.”
Osimhen has been on fire since getting back from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, scoring five goals in as many games.
