The nation’s tranquility, according to Lt-Gen Taoreed Lagbaja, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), was purchased with the blood, limbs, and sacrifice of military people.

On Thursday, Lagbaja made this revelation at the 2023 COAS Christmas Carol, which was held at the Mogadishu Cantonment Parade Ground in Abuja. The event was organized to praise and thank God for the outgoing year.

He assured the people that the military personnel would never sleep since they are the night watchmen who protect the land.

I have been in several of our theaters of operations and have been separated from my family and loved ones, so I truly understand how our frontline soldiers and their families back in our rear units feel during this season.

“I comprehend the isolation our service members’ families face during these trying times, as well as the homesickness our soldiers feel while fighting on the front lines,” he stated.

The purpose of singing the Christmas carol, according to the COAS, was to give gratitude to God for the past year, reflect on God’s message, and sing praises to God.

He went on to say that Christmas is special in many ways due to the meaning it conveys.
