Buildings in Games Village demolished by FCTA

On Thursday, many structures at Plot 1765 in Games Village were razed by the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC) and the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).

Following the exercise, Mr. Nasiru Isa, Director of Finance and Account at the AMMC, spoke with press and revealed that the land had been reserved for the Council’s Senior Staff Housing Estate.

The property had previously been temporarily allotted to a business that built Games Village, he added, and the demolition exercise followed all necessary procedures.

It was brought to his attention that AMMC had previously filed multiple notifications on the administration of Games Village prior to Thursday’s demolition exercise.

Since this is a transitory location, it is inappropriate to have a private school and repair business on the property.

“This is nothing new. The demolition was initiated approximately four months ago. We alone visited that location today in order to finish the task.

He emphasized that the problem has persisted for three years.
