According to Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), more than 50,000 soldiers in the Nigerian Army will not be able to spend the holidays with their families and friends this year.

He announced that the troops will be stationed in some of the most inaccessible cities, towns, villages, and hamlets in the nation and abroad.

His sincere appreciation went out to the Nigerian Army soldiers who had risked their lives to protect Nigeria’s territory.

The Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, made this announcement on Sunday.

In spite of everything, the troops have shown unwavering faith in the Nigerian state, which the COAS complimented.

Having made it this far into the year and through all the challenges they’ve faced, he complimented the troops and said that the Federal Government’s policies and upcoming programs bode well for Nigeria and the Army in the next year.

He disclosed that the Army is planning to get its combat enablers, including helicopters, in the next year, which will improve national security. He spilled the beans about several welfare programs that the Army Headquarters had launched, which would have an immediate and profound effect on service members and their families.

The welfare of the troops is paramount, he emphasized again. He promised that he would keep pushing relentlessly to ensure that the troops have what they needed to do their jobs well.

The Army faces certain hurdles on a constant basis in its pursuit of constitutional commitments, but General Lagbaja assured the audience that these challenges are not insurmountable.

He was certain that the legislative and executive branches would back his efforts to strengthen the NA’s combat capacity in all areas: physically, morally, and conceptually.

In order to foster the country’s socioeconomic development, he assured the public that the Army will keep cooperating with other branches to ensure the safety of all citizens.
