The Nigerian Meteorological Agency has predicted a combination of cloudy skies and sunlight across the nation from Saturday into Monday.

On Friday, NiMet issued a weather outlook for Abuja, predicting that Saturday will bring moderate dust haze with horizontal visibility of 2km and 5km across the northern region.

The south-central and north-central cities are predicted to see bright skies with a hazy environment. The country’s coastline belt was expected to have partly overcast skies in a hazy atmosphere.

Throughout the day, the prediction also indicated the possibility of localized thunderstorms over portions of the states of Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River.

The prognosis indicated that southern interior towns should expect sunny skies in a hazy atmosphere for the duration of the forecast, while coastal areas can see cloud hatches in the same hazy atmosphere.

The forecast for Monday calls for a moderate dust haze with a horizontal visibility of 2km to 5km across the northern, central, and southern inland cities.

Coastal cities should expect hazy skies with minimal cloud patches during the predicted period, according to the agency, which also encouraged the public to take measures due to suspended dust particles.

It cautioned those who suffer from asthma and other respiratory conditions to be extra careful due to the current weather and suggested that airlines use NiMet’s up-to-the-minute weather information to better plan their operations.
