Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, is still keen to get Lucas Paqueta from West Ham.

The Brazilian’s attempt to sign with the Premier League winners fell through last summer.

After a stellar season with the Hammers, Paqueta’s £85 million release clause is about to be activated by Guardiola.

Expert in football transfers Fabrizio Romano tweeted on Friday, saying: “The £85 million release clause in Lucas Paquetá’s West Ham contract is already in effect and expires on July 1st.

Since last summer, Man City has considered Paquetá as one of their top targets; however, no decision has been taken.

“Paquetá is eager to relocate after having preliminary discussions last year.”
