In light of Christians’ celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ this Christmas, Speaker Abbas Tajudeen of the House of Representatives has asked that Nigerians pray for the nation.

On Sunday, when extending Christmas greetings to Christians, the Speaker recalled that Jesus Christ came from humble beginnings before becoming a phenomenon that transcended generations and continents.

He emphasized that Nigerians should strive to live up to the example set by Jesus Christ, citing his many admirable traits as an example: love, sacrifice, peacemaking, tolerance, unity among believers, and selflessness.

During Christmas, Abbas said, Nigerians should think about the country’s present state and how they may make it better in the new year.

In his call for prayers for the success of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration, the Speaker emphasized the importance of citizens standing with their political, spiritual, and traditional leaders as they strive for a safe and successful nation.

This is a great time for us to reflect on the problems we have as a country and the ways in which we can work together, as leaders and citizens, to find solutions.

We have accomplished much as a people. Consequently, we need to stay together and never split. Let us keep praying and showing our support for our leaders. He urged his listeners to follow Jesus’ example and internalize his teachings, which centred on selflessness and love.
