In just four years, the ICPC has resolved 4,705 cases and recovered N450.9bn

For the period beginning in 2019 and ending in 2022, the ICPC successfully completed 4,705 investigations, recovering assets worth a total of N450,997 billion.

Similarly, throughout the preceding years, the Commission recouped properties and structures valued at more than N25.361 billion.

Finally, a forfeiture of N8.823 billion was achieved.

As part of a workshop in Kano on Thursday titled “Role of Media in the Fight Against Corruption: Lessons from other Countries,” Assistant Commissioner Hassan Salisu of the Commission announced that the agency had also seized N13.418 billion from farms and companies.

From 2019 through 2022, the Commission monitored 3,422 CEPTI projects, he said, noting that 387 of those cases are currently under prosecution and that 309 were filed in court.

Throughout the time frame that was examined, 85 convictions were obtained by the agency.

Similarly, Hassan stressed the crucial role of journalists in ending bribery and gratification in Nigeria and called on the media to immediately become involved in the battle against corruption.
