Ten hostages were rescued by troops of the Joint Task Force Operation Hadarin Daji, OPHD, in the town of Tsafe in the Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, after the bandits were dispersed.

According to a statement released on Wednesday by Lieutenant Suleiman Omale, the Information Officer of Operation Hadarin Daji, “OPHD troops engaged in a fierce gun duel with the bandits upon arrival in Tsafe town on the night of March 12, 2024, in response to a distress call.” With dogged persistence and a combination of aggressive and defensive strategies, the soldiers eventually defeated the bandits, who fled wounded through a rocky jungle, leaving all ten hostages behind.

He went on to say that the unwavering soldiers rescued all ten victims and brought them back to their family during later mop-up patrols in the region.

“The General Officer Commanding 8 Division, Sokoto, Major General GM Mutkut, commended the troops for their gallant performance, doggedness, brevity, and professionalism,” he added.

He added that Mutkut thanked them for their work and encouraged them to keep going after reestablishing regional stability.
