Floriana De-Stefani, an Italian woman previously convicted of money laundering, has been re-arrested, according to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s Lagos Zonal Command.

Following her conviction, Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court in Ikeja, Lagos State, re-arrested her for contempt of court.

According to Section 366 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, De-Stefani was convicted on October 7, 2022, of using fake documents and seals to give herself ownership of a piece of property that belonged to a corporation called Waterside Properties Limited.

Justice Dada handed down the three-year prison term and ordered the parcel of land located at 14 A&B Warring Road (previously Bayo Kuku Road), Ikoyi, Lagos, to be released to Waterside Properties Limited no later than three weeks after the verdict was announced.

The court ordered De-Stefani to abandon the property and release it to the firm, but she refused, leading to her re-arrest on Tuesday, December 19, 2023.

After being taken into custody on Tuesday, the EFCC gave her seven days to leave the premises or face legal consequences.
