Minister: Nigerian government would rally citizens in patriotism as a weapon against terrorism and banditry

Mohammed Idris, the country’s minister of information and national orientation, has stated that encouraging patriotism and nationalism is a smart way to reduce the prevalence of violent crimes like kidnapping, terrorism, and banditry.

“The surest way to counter the wave of crime is to instill a sense of patriotism among citizens and foster a strong national identity as a united front against violent crimes,” Idris said in Abuja on Friday during a courtesy visit with General Christopher Musa, the chief of defence staff.

If we want to be a united and prosperous nation, the ideas of patriotism, nationalism, and nationhood must come back. We, the people of Nigeria, must come to our senses after witnessing the steady dilution of our principles.

In order to fix this time, we must return to the drawing board and figure out what went wrong.

For your presence, I am eternally grateful. Our collective action in the battle against insurgency and the establishment of national unity, prosperity, and peace is what we believe to be the necessary cooperation on your part. He emphasized that the Nigerian media and the Nigerian people must take the lead in order to win this war.

This meeting with the minister is part of non-kinetic operations to foster cooperation between the military and the media, according to General Musa, the CDS.

“This is part of the operations we are carrying out to foster cooperation between the public and the Armed Forces, and we believe that the best place to begin is at the source of information,” the CDS stated.
