On Sunday, Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, paid a visit to Olusegun Obasanjo, the former president.

At Obasanjo’s residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State, El-Rufai paid him a visit.

Muyiwa Adekeye, El-Rufai’s communications adviser, revealed this using his X handle.

Captioning the photo gallery was the following: “Former President Olusegun Obasanjo today welcomed Malam Nasir #elrufai to his Abeokuta home.”

The visit follows El-Rufai’s installation as Gbobaniyi of Ijebuland by Oba Sikiru Adetona, the Awujale of Ijebuland.

El-Rufai claimed to be the first non-Southwest Nigerian to be bestowed the chieftaincy title.

“I am also privileged to be the first Nigerian outside of South-West of Nigeria to be conferred with a chieftaincy title by the Awujale in his nearly 64-year reign,” the former governor wrote on X, announcing his position as part of the announcement.

It is my right to be called the Gbobaniyi of Ijebuland. Thank you to everyone who has sent their well wishes, and special thanks to Kabiyesi Awujale, for the recognition.

We ask that you pray with Jimi and me for His Majesty Awujale’s and our families’ well-being, longevity, and wealth, as well as for the event to go off without a hitch. – A “Hassan Elrufai”
