Police foil criminal plot in Katsina neighborhood raid, seize firearms

According to the Katsina State Police Command, an infamous criminal gang was neutralized in a recent encounter in Yar Gamji village, Kankara Local Government Area. As a result, four dangerous rifles, including five AK-47 magazines, were recovered, two of which were loaded with 59 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.

In addition to seizing the arsenals, the operation severely limited criminal activity in the region, as stated by ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the public relations officer of the command.

The statement announces that a criminal hideout in Yar Gamji village was raided on Thursday, December 21st, 2023, by operatives attached to Kankara Divisional Police Headquarters. As a result, notorious criminal gang activities within the area were neutralized. The raid took place at Yargoje Town, Kankara LGA.

Two (2) AK-47 rifles, two (2) locally produced weapons, and five AK-47 magazines were successfully recovered after a fierce shootout between the command’s operatives and the hoodlums, which was caused by the raid operation that was carried out with maximum precision and determination. On top of that, we discovered two magazines that were completely stocked with fifty-nine (7.62mm) rounds of live ammo.

“The criminal activities in the area have been rendered incapacitated by the success of the operation. As the investigation proceeds, relentless efforts are being made to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects.”
