Fireworks are no longer allowed in Nasarawa State during the Christmas season, according to the state’s police command.

This was said on Thursday in Lafia by DSP Ramhan Nansel, the Police Public Relations Officer, in a statement signed by Mr. Umar Nadada, the state Commissioner of Police.

To guarantee complete compliance and enforcement, Nadada ordered divisional police officers to be on the lookout.

The risks involved, such as its potential use by criminals to incite violence and commit crimes, make the prohibition imperative.

In addition, he mentioned that there was a considerable risk of physical harm and fires.

Fireworks vendors and consumers were issued a stern warning by the CP to immediately stop.

He further warned that anyone discovered with fireworks would face the full force of the law, therefore it was important for parents and guardians to dissuade their children and wards from purchasing and using them.
