Protesters from Miyetti Allah demand Bodejo’s release from detention as they gather in court

On Wednesday, Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore members peacefully demonstrated outside of Abuja’s Federal High Court, demanding that their incarcerated president, Bello Bodejo, be released without condition.

Protesters surrounded the courthouse entrance and waved a massive banner reading “Free Bello Bodejo” in an effort to get their point across.

Signs reading “DIA, Free Bodejo Now” and “Release Bodejo” were also carried by other members of the organization.

The group’s representative, Comrade Kabir Matazu, condemned Bodejo’s arrest and incarceration as illegal.

The rule of law, in his view, is foundational to democracies.

“A person cannot be arbitrarily arrested until he is duly charged and arraigned in court.

To make our voices known, we have assembled our members from throughout the country to come here and agitate.

“The President of Miyetti Allah, Bello Bodejo, must be released unconditionally by the Nigerian security agencies without further delay,” he admonished.

According to NAN, Bodejo’s plea to be unconditionally released from the custody of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) was set to be heard on Wednesday by Justice Inyang Ekwo of a Federal High Court on March 5.

The vigilante group Miyetti Allah in Nasarawa State was responsible for Bodejo’s arrest.
