In Tuesday night’s exciting UEFA Champions League Round of 16 second-leg match against Porto, former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry has spoken highly of Gunners skipper Martin Odegaard.

After a thrilling 1-1 draw in the first leg, Arsenal prevailed 4-2 in a penalty shootout to seal the deal. The only goal of the match came in the 41st minute of the second leg.

Arsenal great Henry praised Odegaard for the beautiful through-ball that led to Leandro Trossard’s calm goal at the Emirates Stadium, which leveled the score.

After the game, Henry spoke with CBS about his thoughts on the game and how the midfielder’s vision and intellect shone through in his pinpoint long-ball execution.

Henry drew comparisons to the legendary Dennis Bergkamp of Arsenal as he lauded Odegaard for his skill in moving the ball onto his left foot, which he then used to send a pinpoint pass between the legs of the defender, setting up Trossard for a clinical finish.

Henry gushed over Martin’s “very-so” left-footed pass that found Trossard, who “finished it ever-so well,” after making sure the ball would fall between the player’s legs.

When the ball comes back here, what Odegaard did is what I enjoy. Is that similar to Bergkamp? I agree wholeheartedly.
