Protesters attempting to halt oil production at Aiteo Eastern Exploration’s Oil Mining Lease, OML, 29 on December 26 would face no sway from the Bayelsa State Government, according to the statement.

Chief Ayiba Duba, the government’s commissioner for information, orientation, and strategy, made the announcement in a statement on Sunday.

Noting that chiefs’ council and youth activities were still halted in the area, it served as a warning to those planning the protest in Nembe Basambiri.

To prevent the state from receiving much-needed cash from oil derivation, the state government has alerted the security services of a plan to halt oil production at the OML 29 oil fields.

It made it clear that it does not want the current calm in Nembe Basambiri and the rest of Bayelsa to be violated in any way.
